Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church welcomes new members and seeks their enthusiastic involvement.
Since we have been called together by a common confession of faith we carry out Christ's will in five important areas:
I) Unite in worship Hebrews 10: 24-25
2) Grow in faith Ephesians 4: 12-15
3) Share with others Acts 1:8
4) Serve in love John 13: 34-35
5) Fellowship Acts 2:42
CHRIST'S MISSION IS CARRIED OUT ... THROUGH OUR MINISTRY!
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that the Lutheran Church stands in the mainstream of the Christian Faith. We date our heritage to the Reformation of 1517, and the continual reformation since.
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that God speaks to man through his Word and that Word is fulfilled in His Son - Jesus.
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that Jesus is both God and man. He died in our place. He is risen from the dead, and we too!
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that the Holy Scriptures are central in our faith and life, the final authority in the Church.
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that humankind has failed God and our Lord's message is two-fold: Law and Gospel. The Law shows us our sin. Because of our sinful nature, we are unable to meet God’s requirements.
That is why the Gospel shows our Savior, God's offer of forgiveness and life in Jesus Christ, is needed.
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that God has put things right by doing for us what we could not do ourselves. We do not deserve nor can we earn God's love. Only through Christ can we receive God's grace through faith.
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that the sacraments are means through which God touches us with His blessings. We are given new spiritual life through baptism and our sins are forgiven through Christ's real presence of the bread and wine in Holy Communion.
WE AS LUTHERANS BELIEVE that Christ will claim us when we claim Him. (Matt. 10:32-33).
