We see our vision (Proverbs 29:18 and Habakkuk 2:2-3) and purpose at Shepherd of the Hills is to be faithful to our Lord's Great Commission. He has commanded us to go into all the world and make disciples. With the Holy Spirit's guidance and help we are striving to lead people to Christ through our ministry.
In order for this to happen we form a vision, a goal, a picture of Shepherd of the Hills. We organize, we take it to heart, we believe it will happen with God's help. We don't look left or right for satan is always whispering defeat. We work in unity, we must work together as one. In the Bible the church is pictured as a body.
Every part of the body is different yet every part is valuable (Ephesians 4). We are striving to help everyone at Shepherd to discover what part of the body they are. Our goal is to have every person discover their spiritual gift and then put their gift to use in some form of ministry.
We want everyone to know that they have a gift and that they have an important part to play in God's plan for His church.
We believe that membership is discipleship, not just having your name on the church roster. Discipleship in our church means that you are faithful in worship, receiving the sacrament, and in being part of some kind of ministry. That is why we are committed to a ministry style that doesn't just let the pastor, the council or the elders do all of the ministry. We want a church in which everyone is a minister.
The Mission of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is to make known the love of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, by Word and deed
(Eph. 4:16, CoL 2:2,2 Pet. 3:18)
